New Richmond, WV (WOAY) – For a second straight year, Wyoming East boys basketball is in the Class AA state tournament. It will be an early morning on Thursday for the Warriors, who play Chapmanville at 9:30 that morning.
Head coach Derek Brooks says the team is not overwhelmed by the early start, as they’ve held early practices on weekends throughout the season. He also says their conditioning prepared them for the postseason, which included wins against Independence, Westside, and Shady Spring.
Last year, Wyoming East reached the state semifinals after a win against Robert C. Byrd and a loss to Poca. A win on Thursday would set up a semifinal Friday against either Bluefield or Lincoln.
