WVU’s Carter Drafted by Grizzlies

WOAY – West Virginia guard Jevon Carter was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft Thursday in Brooklyn, New York. He is the first Mountaineer drafted since Da’Sean Butler & Devin Ebanks were both selected in 2010.

The Maywood, Illinois native saw growth over his four years as a Mountaineer, emerging into one of, if not the best defensive guard in the country. He was a two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and this past season was named both the NABC & Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.

Carter leaves Morgantown with the school record in career steals, single-season steals, and single-season assists. He was the fifth Division I player to reach 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists and 300 steals in a career.

Of the 60 players taken in Thursday’s draft, six (incuding Carter) were from Big 12 schools.
