WVU Women Headed to WNIT

WOAY – West Virginia women’s basketball has accepted an at-large bid to play in the 2018 Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

The Mountaineers will host Bucknell in the first round on Thursday evening in Morgantown. The winner of that game advances to the second round, where they will face Seton Hall or St. Joseph’s.

WVU started the season 13-0 but went 8-11 over the remainder of the season. Their Big 12 Tournament title defense began with a win over Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals, followed by a loss to Texas in the semifinals.

The Mountaineers had been on the NCAA bubble for several weeks leading up to Selection Monday; they were hoping for a third straight appearance.

As of Monday night, Thursday’s game time with Bucknell had yet to be decided.
