WVU Tech Swept in Home Doubleheader

WOAY – Both WVU Tech basketball teams had important matchups on Saturday, as they welcomed Indiana University East to Beckley.

The Golden Bear men hosted a Red Wolves team ranked second nationally in NAIA, but it was the visitors winning at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center 84-67. Michael Scott led WVU Tech with 21 points, while Thomas Collins contributed 13. Bishop Smith led IU East with 15 points.

The Lady Golden Bears went to overtime in their matchup with the Red Wolves, but IU East won that contest 94-90. Laura Requena led WVU Tech with 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench, while Whittney Justice had 16 points. Four more Golden Bears reached double figures, while Tia King had 34 points for IU East.

WVU Tech continues their homestand Tuesday against Carlow.
