WV Miners’ Rally Falls Short vs. Butler

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Miners continued their season-opening homestand Saturday against Butler, with the BlueSox winning their first game of the season 8-7.

Butler scored all of their runs in the fourth inning, after the Miners took the early 1-0 lead (they’ve scored in the first inning of every game so far in 2018). Tim Epling’s team would rally with two runs in the sixth inning, one in the eighth, and three in the ninth, before the rally fell short.

Frankie Jezioro led the Miners on offense, batting 3-5 for four RBI. Mason Washington & Colby Johnson also recorded multiple hits.

The Miners & BlueSox finish their series Sunday afternoon at Epling Stadium.
