OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Every member of the West Virginia Board of Education approved six recommendations for increased education funding at its meeting this week.
The recommendations include providing funds to adequately maintain school facilities, increase supply reimbursements above the current amount of $200 per professional educator,
and also to increase funding for career technical education.
We’re told this has been a process involving many different members of the educational process.
“This year and a half long study group was made up of all the shareholders in public education; teachers, parents, PTA’s, service personnel associations, superintendent associations, principal associations, teacher organizations; so they started with 32 points and they narrowed it down to six areas of concern for funding for citizens of West Virginia,” said David Perry, WV BOE President
Mr. Perry went on to say the West Virginia Board of Education also intends on presenting a proposal for funding their recommendations at a later point in time.
