Woodrow Wilson Boys Basketball Returning to State Tournament

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – After a loss in regionals last year, Woodrow Wilson boys basketball is headed back to the Class AAA state tournament for a 55th time. The Flying Eagles established momentum in the second quarter, leading to a 77-68 win over Capital Tuesday evening.

In his final home game, Mikey Penn recorded a career-high 27 points, while Eddie Christian contributed 18 points and 17 rebounds. Bryce Radford connected on multiple three-pointers at key points in the game, including right before halftime; he finished with 15 points. Kerry Martin Jr. led Capital with 21 points.

Woodrow Wilson is the #5 seed in the state tournament, where they will face Martinsburg at 11:15 AM on Thursday, March 15. It will be the third time in four years the Flying Eagles & Bulldogs have met in the quarterfinals.

Princeton was also in a Class AAA Region 3 co-final Tuesday night, losing 76-53 to George Washington. Cade Fix scored 16 points for the Tigers, while Drew Hopkins added 12.
