WOAY – West Virginia senior quarterback Will Grier has been named the Maxwell Award Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Wednesday by the Maxwell Football Club.
This is the third weekly honor the WVU quarterback has received, following recognition as Big 12 Offensive Player and Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Year.
The Charlotte, North Carolina native threw for 429 yards and five touchdowns last Saturday in the Mountaineers’ 40-14 win over Tennessee in Charlotte. He was named to multiple watch lists for individual awards over the summer, including the Maxwell Award.
West Virginia plays their home opener Saturday against Youngstown State at 6:00 PM.
