Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Westside boys basketball overcame a second-half deficit to win 64-63 against Oak Hill and claim the Class AA Region 3 Section 1 title.
The Red Devils established the early momentum, leading 14-6 after the first quarter and 33-22 at halftime. Andrew Work would lead Oak Hill with 28 points, while Michael Beasley added 10.
Westside scored 30 points in the fourth quarter, 17 of them from senior Shane Jenkins, including the game-winner inside the final 15 seconds. Jenkins finished 22 points, while Corey Hatfield added 18.
Both the Renegades and Red Devils await the outcome of Saturday’s Section 2 final between Shady Spring & Bluefield.
