NITRO, W.Va. (AP) — Police say a West Virginia student has been injured after being struck by a minivan at a Kanawha County school bus stop.

Nitro Police Chief Bobby Eggleston says the 14-year-old boy was hit Tuesday morning on state Route 25. The boy is a student at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Cross Lanes. Media outlets report the boy was hospitalized and his condition is stable.

Eggleston says video from the bus was reviewed and witnesses were interviewed. He says it appears the boy stepped onto the road before the bus had arrived and it doesn’t appear the minivan’s driver did anything wrong.

The police chief says no charges were immediately filed.
