West Virginia falls to Texas in Regular Season Finale

Austin, TX (WOAY) – Earlier today senior guard Jevon Carter was named a candidate for the John. R. Wooden award, a prestigious award given to the most outstanding college basketball player in the United States. The finalist for the Wooden Award will be announced on March 28th.

The #20 Mountaineers fell to the Longhorns in overtime 87-79.  West Virginia had a hard time tonight containing two longhorn guards who combined to shoot 15 of 29. After this loss, West Virginia will be the #3 seed in the Big 12 Championship next week. West Virginia is set to face #2 seed Baylor next Thursday in Kansas City at 9:00 ET.

Also, WVU Women’s basketball took down #3 seed Oklahoma State 69-60 in the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City tonight. With this win, West Virginia advances to face the #2 seed Texas in the semifinals on Sunday at 4:30 p.m ET.
