UPDATE: Sophia armed robbery suspect was a juvenile, name not released

UPDATE: SOPHIA, WV (WOAY) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office released new details regarding an armed robbery this morning in Sophia.

Raleigh County Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery in progress at the GoMart in Sophia at around 7:45 am. It was reported that a male subject with black paint on his face was robbing the store. While deputies were en-route, the suspect fled on foot towards the IRS building. The suspect was located within minutes near the IRS building by Officer Meadows of Sophia PD and Deputy Milam of the RCSO. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery.

The suspect is a juvenile and his name can not be released.

The juvenile will be held in a juvenile detention center pending a hearing before a Circuit Court Judge.

SOPHIA, WV (WOAY) – One suspect is in custody after robbing GoMart in Sophia with a gun.

According to police, an armed robbery occurred at 7:20 am at the GoMart in Sophia.  Sophia Police took the suspect in custody moments later.  Money and a gun were recovered by Sophia Police. The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.

No injuries were reported. The suspect gave police several names.
