Two Arrested For Breaking Into A Home And Staying For Three Weeks

HANOVER, WV (WOAY) - Two people are in jail after breaking into a home and living there while the homeowner is being cared for in a nursing home located in North Carolina.

According to court documents, Deputies went to the home after receiving a complaint that someone was living inside without permission.  Summer Cook and Erik Harper greeted deputies at the door.  Cook told deputies that the home belongs to her grandmother, but could not provide the key to the house or written permission.

A bottle of oxycodone pills was found on Harper, along with nearly 1600 in cash.

The couple had been living in the home for nearly three weeks.

Cook is charged with daytime burglary.  Harper is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and trespassing.

Both are being held in the Southern Regional Jail under a 50,000 dollar bond.
