BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A convicted felon is in jail after an armed robbery occurred at the Shell gas station on Harper Road.
According to court documents, when police arrived on the scene, they spoke to the victim that advised a silver Honda sedan with a Tennessee license plate pulled in. A white male driver, later identified as William Lawson of Tennessee, asked the victim for directions to the interstate and then pulled out a pistol and demanded the victim to give him everything he had on him. The victim handed the male his wallet and told him that was all he had. Lawson took the wallet and fled.
The victim told police he couldn’t remember much other than the suspect was a white male and there was a female passenger with her faced covered. Approximately 20 minutes later a call came in that State Police had pulled over a vehicle at the Pax exit, and the driver would not get out. Police found the wallet that was stolen and found that Mr. Lawson had multiple felony warrants out of Tennessee. The passenger told police she had the gun on her and did not want to go to jail.
Lawson is charged with robbery in the first degree and prohibited person with a firearm. He is being held in the Southern Regional Jail under a 25,000 dollar bond. Heather Brown is charged with accessory after the fact, and she is being held in jail.
