Thundering Herd Drops Game Two to Southern Miss

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Marshall baseball dropped the second of its three-game series with Southern Mississippi Friday in Beckley, as the Golden Eagles rallied to win 7-4 at Epling Stadium.

The Thundering Herd opened the scoring in the first inning as a Dakota Robbins double brought home Reynaldo Pastrana; Marshall increased their lead in the third inning on a Will Ray solo home run.

Southern Mississippi rallied by scoring five runs in the sixth inning before adding two more on a home run in the seventh. Marshall cut the deficit on a two-run home run by Pastrana in the eighth inning. The Thundering Herd were able to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but a double play secured the win for the Golden Eagles.

The final game of this series, and the regular season, will start at 10:30 AM Saturday in Beckley.
