Three Hokies Declare for NFL Draft

WOAY – With Virginia Tech football’s 2016 season in the books, three Hokies have decided to forgo their final year of eligiblity.

Quarterback Jerod Evans, wide receiver Isaiah Ford, and tight end Bucky Hodges are all declaring for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Evans played one season for the Hokies after transferring from Trinity Valley Community College. He threw for 3,546 yards and 29 touchdowns, and was also Virginia Tech’s leading rusher with 846 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Dallas, Texas native helped the Hokies rally in the second half to win the Belk Bowl last Thursday 35-24 over Arkansas.

Ford leaves Blacksburg as Virginia Tech’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches. He caught for 1,094 yards and seven touchdowns in 2016.

Hodges also caught seven touchdown passes this season, and scored 21 career touchdowns over three seasons.

The 2017 NFL Draft begins April 27 in Philadelphia.
