State Wrestling Tournament – Day 2

WOAY – Independence remains atop the Class AA/A team standings after the second day of the state wrestling tournament in Huntington.

Six Patriot grapplers will compete for individual titles Saturday evening, with two additional area representatives reaching the finals. One final features two Southern West Virginia natives, as Patriots senior Connor Gibson and Fayetteville’s Trent Pullens in the 160 division.

Also in their respective championship rounds: Sean Dawson, Liam Lusher, Alex Hart, Haegan Harvey, and Adam Daniels from Independence, along with Oak Hill’s Christian Lively.

Greenbrier West is 10th in the AA/A team standings (third among Class A schools), while Oak Hill is 11th.

In Class AAA, Greenbrier East is ninth in the team standings while Woodrow Wilson is 19th. Two Spartans (Levi Hobbs, Jacob Hefner) and one Flying Eagle (Tyree Swafford) advanced to the semifinals, and will compete in consolation matches Saturday morning starting at 10:30 AM.

Championship matches begin at 6 PM.
