BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- Local community heroes came out to the Beckley Veterans Affairs Medical Center to help save lives for those who need blood supplies.
Over seventy-five people donated blood at the VA Medical Center and nurses say they had expected around sixty.
Veterans also came into the auditorium and donated blood to the hospital and it all goes to the veterans that need it the most.
Many may not realize it- but your donation could save up to three lives.
“The blood drive is really important because one unit of blood can save three peoples lives. It’s something we need every day, so anyone who can help any person can help,” said Patty Lester who is a nurse.
If you were unable to make the blood drive, no need to worry as the Beckley VA has a blood drive once every three months. the next one is scheduled for December.
