Rocket Boys make a landing in Southern West Virginia this weekend

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- Does the name Homer Hickam and the Rocket Boys ring a bell? if so, then plan to head out to the Rocket Boys Festival this weekend!

 

Beginning today, the Rocket Boys festival will kick off with activities.

 

American author, Vietnam veteran, and a former NASA engineer: Homer Hickam will be at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine to meet with fans beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

 

The festival will include a race, Educational Displays and Specialty Vendors.

Carl will be part of the “From Book To Screen To Stage” dinner and movie event Friday night starting at 6 pm at Historic Black Knight Country Club, along with author Homer Hickam, who also served as a creative consultant on the film version of his book.
9:00 PM Follow up questions for the Rocket Boys.
The Thursday and Friday evening Rocket Boys Festival events at the former Black Knight Country Club location on Kanawha Street in Beckley are casual dress. Come as you are, jeans are welcome, and enjoy Dinner and a Movie Thursday with Daniel Boyd and Larry Groce, the creators of Paradise Park The Musical for a “Screen To Stage” event and Dinner and a Movie Friday with author Homer Hickam, Rocket Boy Roy Lee Cooke and Broadway star and “Rocket Boys The Musical” co-creator Carl Anthony Tramon. * Meet “Mrs. Gilligan”, Dreama Denver, who will be signing her memoir “Gilligan’s Dreams” with a foreword by Homer Hickam, and her late husband Bob Denver’s autobiography “Gilligan, Maynard and Me” alongside Homer on “Writer’s Row”!
* Meet Danny Boyd, creator of both the film “Paradise Park” and “Paradise Park, The Musical” and musical cast member Eliska Hahn, who also starred in Boyd’s movie “Strangest Dreams-Invasion of the Space Preachers”
