Ridgeview Elementary opens doors for first day of school

SOPHIA (WOAY)- The brand new Ridgeview Elementary School in Raleigh County opened Thursday.

Third, fourth and fifth grade students were the first to get inside their new, state of the art facility. Construction and wet weather delayed the first day of school. Teachers tell WOAY that parents, for the most part have been supportive and patient.

Everyone’s been so positive,” fifth grade teacher Breanna Rider said. “The parents have been great with the delayed opening and everything and the kids are just excited to be here. By fifth grade they’re like ‘oh another year of school’ but that was not the vibe this morning. They were so excited.”

Now tomorrow, third, fourth and fifth graders stay home while the Pre-K, first and second grades transition into the new school. Come Monday, the classrooms will be full, as all students will be there.
