Rays Rumble Past Cardinals After Rain Delay

Princeton, WV (WOAY-TV) – The Princeton Rays were at home tonight to finish their series with the Johnson City Cardinals. Friday the Rays split a doubleheader with the Cardinals making Saturday’s game the rubber match.

The Rays would shoot out to a 2-0 lead early in the game but the Cardinals would respond with a two-run home run from Michael Perri in the fourth. A rain delay would set in during the fifth inning, the Rays and Cardinals would finish the game and the Princeton Rays would explode scoring eleven runs after the rain delay. The Rays move to 35-19 on the season and are two games ahead of the Bluefield Blue Jays for first place in the East Division.

The Blue Jays and the Rays face off tomorrow at Bowen Field at 6:05.
