RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (NEWS RELEASE) – Raleigh County Schools is proud to announce it recently received a $35,000 grant from the Carter Family Foundation to support the district’s current STEM (Science-Technology- Engineering- Mathematics) initiative.

Raleigh County Schools is pleased to partner with Jim Higgins, II, President of Southern WV Robotics Club. Mr. Higgins understands the importance of developing students’ interest in the STEM- based fields at an early age and has therefore been a driving force to establish robotics STEM curriculum in the Raleigh County school system for many years. Thank you to the Carter Family Foundation and Mr. Higgins for supporting student learning throughout Raleigh County. The district also extends a special thank you to Elizabeth Hegele, Shady Spring High School teacher, for her work with Mr. Higgins to submit and acquire the Carter Family Foundation grant award.
