CHESAPEAKE, Ohio (WCHS BY: TIERSA DAVIS) — Chesapeake police in Ohio continue to search for a man who escaped arrest following a traffic stop by jumping into a flooded river.
Police said they pursued a vehicle Sunday evening for a traffic violation. Police said it stopped on the 17th Street Bridge in Chesapeake and a man jumped into the Ohio River.
Police said a police officer pursued him into the water but retreated. Police said they believe the man hid until the search was called off. Sources told police the man got out of the water and sought treatment at the hospital.
Police have not released the man’s name and continue to search for him.
