Oak Hill’s Smith Named First Team All-State

WOAY – The West Virginia Sports Writers Assocation named its all-state teams for Girls AA/A soccer on Tuesday, with Oak Hill’s Courtney Smith named to the first team as a utility player.

The senior midfielder – who was selected to the coaches’ first team earlier this month and was also a first-team selection in 2017 – scored 40 goals and provided 26 assists as the Lady Red Devils defended their sectional championship. She reached 100 career goals this fall and was WOAY’s Lewis Nissan Athlete of the Week on October 2nd.

Six area players were named Honorable Mention: Lily Hampton, Stephanie Miller, and Taylor Papa of Bluefield; Casey Martin & Morgan Wylie of James Monroe; and Erin O’Sullivan of PikeView. Additional all-state teams will be announced in the next few days.
