Mountaineers’ Season Ends in Big 12 Tournament

WOAY – West Virginia baseball’s 2018 season came to an end Saturday with a 7-3 loss to TCU in the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City.

The Mountaineers advanced to the tournament semifinals following a 12-4 win Friday night over Texas Tech, but needed two wins over the Horned Frogs Saturday to advance to the championship round.

WVU opened the scoring in the top of the second inning, but TCU would counter by scoring all of its runs in the fourth inning. Kyle Gray led the Mountaineers on offense, batting 2-2 with one run batted in and a run scored.

TCU advances to the championship game Sunday to face Baylor. West Virginia finishes the season 29-27, including a 2-2 mark in this year’s tournament.
