Marshall Wins 2018 Gasparilla Bowl

WOAY – Marshall football ended the 2018 season with a 38-20 win over South Florida Thursday in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa.

The Thundering Herd running game took advantage of the rainy conditions, with all five touchdowns coming via the ground. Keion Davis was named MVP with 94 rushing yards and two touchdowns, adding 77 yards on four kickoff returns. Brenden Knox, Anthony Anderson, and Isaiah Green also found the end zone, with quarterback Green passing for 221 yards.

Marshall’s defense held the Bulls to 360 total yards (compared to 503 for the Herd), though Tyre McCants & Blake Barnett each threw touchdown passes to Randall St. Felix. Woodrow Wilson alum Chase Hancock recorded seven tackles, all of them solo.
