Marshall Men’s Basketball Snaps Middle Tennessee’s 5 game winning streak as Marshall Women’s Basketball falls to Old Dominion

Huntington, WV (WOAY) – Marshall men’s basketball defeated Middle Tennessee 73-63 at home tonight, the Blue Raiders first conference loss. Junior C.J Burks posted five 3-pointers as he contributed 25 points to the win. Conference USA’s leading scorer, junior Jon Elmore, added 19 points, eight assists, and five steals. His teammate junior Ajdin Penava contributed 17 points, six blocks, and a team-high seven rebounds. The Thundering Herd will stay at home to host The University of Alabama at Birmingham Saturday, January 20th at 7:00.

Marshall women’s basketball played on the road tonight at Old Dominion and lost 69-53. The Herd have now lost four straight games as they fall to 6-11 in their season. Junior Shayna Gore posted a game-high 18 points as her teammate freshman Talequia Hamilton added 15. Freshman Kate Zhibareva led the team with seven rebounds. The Herd will return home as they hope to snap their losing streak when they host Western Kentucky Sunday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m
