MORGANTOWN, WV (AP) — Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Republican challenger Patrick are due to participate in their only debate.
The debate is scheduled for Thursday evening (November 1st) in Morgantown.
Manchin is a former governor who is seeking his second full term in the Senate. Morrisey is a two-term state attorney general and a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, who is scheduled to appear in Huntington on Friday.
It’s the third trip Trump is making to rally for Morrisey.
Manchin has said he supports many of Trump’s initiatives and has highlighted his own bipartisan work during the campaign.
He’s been critical of Morrisey’s past lobbying ties to the pharmaceutical industry and his New Jersey roots.
Morrisey said he’s a West Virginian by choice. His campaign has said Manchin “only acts bipartisan around election day …”
