Local Teachers Gain Support

The Raleigh County Board of Education made a stand with local teachers Tuesday night by signing a resolution showing their support of, not only Raleigh County but, all West Virginia teachers.
The resolution states that “The Raleigh County Board of Education respectfully requests that the West Virginia Legislature improve teacher compensation to make West Virginia a more attractive state for the Nation’s best teachers to live and work by providing sufficient salary increased during the 2018 regular session to raise teacher pay so that West Virginia no longer ranks 48th in the Nation.”
Teachers at the meeting were grateful to have the support from the Raleigh County Board of Education.
“I just think it is wonderful to have our Board’s support. They know how hard teachers work and they see it every day. It just feels good to feel appreciated,” said Daniels Elementary Teacher Wendy Peters.
All six members of the Raleigh County Board of Education signed the resolution to show their support for the teachers.
