FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- One of the longest sitting judge in Fayette county will be retiring this Friday.
Judge John Hatcher will be retiring after 28 of being the judge of Fayette County. He is one of the most respected judges in the state of West Virginia. We asked him what made him became a judge.
"Well when I started law school uh we had people come various people came to speak to us and it wasn’t long after I was there there that I decided that if I’m going to a lawyer I want to be a judge" said Judge John Hatcher.
The judge has face many court cases. We asked him what court cases does he enjoy the most."The wonderful thing I get to do is adoptions and I’ve done more adoptions in the past 3 years then I’ve ever done collectively since I’ve been judge I also like to do them as a lawyer too" said Jude John Hatcher.
With November 16 coming up fast. I had to ask him what is going to do now? "Read books I love to read and I’m going to relax, go to the gym , and just do whatever, get back to playing golf probably just do whatever comes up, no schedule" said Judge John Hatcher.
