WOAY – Greater Beckley Christian was able to resume Game 2 of its Class A Region 3 championship series with Charleston Catholic Wednesday evening in Beckley. The Irish would score four runs in the ninth inning, going on to win 13-9. That result gives the Irish a 2-0 series win, and they will head to next week’s state tournament.
In Class AAA, Greenbrier East opened its Region 3 championship series at St. Albans. A big second inning was the key for the Red Dragons as they went on to win 19-0. Game 2 of this series is scheduled for Thursday in Fairlea.
Game 2 of the Class AA series between Independence and James Monroe was moved to Thursday in Coal City because of the weather. The Mavericks lead that series 1-0 following Monday’s win in Lindside.
