High School Student Gives Back as Part of Senior Project

OAK HILL– A Senior at a local High School is giving back to the community.

Agusta Markley, a senior at Meadow Bridge High School completed her last school project by giving back. 300 backpacks were given out the to the Fayette County Department of Health and Human Resources. The care backpack is given to children that is placed into foster care. Inside the backpack is Stuffed Animals, personal Items, along with toys. Agusta says this hits home with her, because her and her siblings were placed in State custody after they were taken from their home.

“I myself was in foster care and I do know what it is like to not have a bag big enough to put all of your stuff in. When my four siblings and I were removed from our home, the home that we were in, we had one duffel bag for five children and so each of us didn’t have a bag to put our stuff in. So this gives each child their own bag and we didn’t have emotional support things, so that is what the stuffed animal and blanket will serve as.”

Agusta will continue to give back to her Community as she studies to be a registered nurse this fall.
