Heroes Day: Honoring those risk their lives for the community

WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY)- First responders risk their lives every day to protect us and in order to honor them, Governor Jim Justice has proclaimed a day for them.

The Governor has proclaimed this Saturday, September 8th as Heroes Day in the state of West Virginia.

During the past year, two firefighters from the Pratt Volunteer Fire Department lost their lives in the line of duty and other first responders have been severely injured.

Celebrations will be taking place throughout the day to honor first responders.
