200

RALEIGH COUNTY,WV (WOAY) – Motorcycle riding can be a dangerous sport and as the warmer months are upon us more motorcycles will be on the roadways.

Gov. Justice is urging riders to practice safe habits when using their motorcycles in the Appalachia Mountains.

Parts and service manager, Skyler Sallee with United Cycle in Beckley shared some tips for riders.

“Helmets to riding protective gear are needed because even if you’re smart and pay attention stuffs going to happen, either people won’t see you or gravel will be on the road so you need to be ready for the bad situations as well as paying attention to avoid those situations.”

United Cycle of Beckley holds community bike rides every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Inexperienced riders are encouraged to come attend as a chance to ride with experienced motorcyclist.

The WVDOT also offers a motorcycle safety program, for more details click here.
