FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A prowler complaint leads to an arrest near Ansted.
Last night deputies were dispatched to a home on Downey Ridge Road near Ansted regarding a complaint of prowlers near a home. Deputies discovered a male and female checking the property, which belongs to the females relatives.
Further investigation revealed that the male subject, Michael D. Ashmore (57 of Ansted) was wanted on an outstanding circuit court bench warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. Also, 2 firearms were located. Ashmore, being a convicted felon, was charged with 2 counts of the felony offense of Possession of Firearms by a Prohibited Person, in addition to the outstanding bench warrant. He was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail.
