WOAY – With the high school football playoffs beginning this week, two Fayette County schools celebrated not just the success on the gridiron, but additional sports as well.

Oak Hill held a fall sports pep rally for the first time, recognizing the cross country team which qualified for states, the soccer teams that were able to defend their sectional titles, and the cheerleading team that finished third in regionals. The Red Devils football team qualified for the Class AA playoffs, and will visit Bluefield Friday evening.

In Hico, Midland Trail hosted a “Parade of Champions” for the 10-0 Patriot football team, who will host Tucker County Friday in the Class A first round. Also recognized were the regional champion cheerleading team, along with Midland Trail middle school football, and the New River Patriots Little League team.

Hear from Red Devils head coach Jason Blankenship and Patriots head coach Frank Isaacs.
