Father in Jackson County faces charge after baby suffers serious injuries

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — Jackson County’s sheriff said Tuesday that a father faces a charge after his infant girl was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be multiple skull injuries.

Dylan Ray, 21, of Ripley is being charged with child abuse after the baby, estimated to be about 2 months old, was taken to Charleston Area Women and Children’s Hospital on Monday and then was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs said.

Jackson County deputies and Ripley police were notified that that something was amiss with the child’s injuries, and the case should be investigated.

Ray is in custody in Jackson County and was awaiting arraignment.
