Crusaders Win Regional Title

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Greater Beckley boys basketball won a Class A Region 3 co-final 75-64 over Pocahontas County Wednesday night to advance to the state tournament. It’s the Crusaders’ first appearance in Charleston since 2015.

Greater Beckley began the game on an 8-0 run, and though the Warriors were able to trim the deficit on several occasions, the hosts maintained the lead throughout the night. Jay Moore led all scorers with 29 points, while Chance Potter added 19. Logan Dilley & Briar Wilfong each scored 17 points for Pocahontas County.

The Crusaders earned the #6 seed in next week’s Class A state tournament, and will play #3 Tug Valley at 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 15.

In a second Region 3 co-final, Mount View rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to force overtime at Webster County, but the Highlanders went on to win 86-83. De’Moni Edwards & Aaric Gross each had 29 points for the Golden Knights, while Latrell Hairston added 21.
