WOAY – Concord basketball split a doubleheader Wednesday night at Glenville State, with the Mountain Lion men picking up a fourth straight win.

Head coach Todd May said earlier in the day he anticipated a high-scoring contest in the men’s game, and it would indeed finish 101-97. Tommy Bolte led the team with 39 points, while Jair Rodgers contributed 25 and Malik Johnson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Darhius Nunn had 27 points for the Pioneers.

The Lady Lions played a close first half against the reigning MEC champion Lady Pioneers, who would pull away in the second half to win 114-87. PikeView alumna Madison May led Concord with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Riley Fitzwater – playing in her home county – recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The Mountain Lion men play two non-conference games this weekend at the Manchin Classic in Salem, while the women next play in the league doubleheader December 15th with West Virginia Wesleyan.

Also in college basketball Wednesday, Marshall men lost on the road 93-82 at Duquesne. C.J. Burks led the Thundering Herd with 26 points, while Greenbrier East alum Rondale Watson scored 12 points. Marshall hosts Toledo on Saturday.
