Concord Remains Focused Despite Weather Delay

Athens, WV (WOAY) – Hear from Concord head basketball coaches Todd May & Kenny Osborne as the Mountain Lions prepare for a significant weekend in Mountain East play.

They were scheduled to hold a doubleheader with the University of Charleston Wednesday, but those games have been moved to Thursday due to the weather. It will be the first instance this season that Concord has seen a conference opponent for the second time – the Mountain Lions split a doubleheader in Kanawha County in December.

Concord’s men are looking for their first win of the calendar year, after coming close last week against Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty. The Lady Lions, meanwhile, have won three straight, and are playing with plenty of confidence following their recent run.

Freshman Riley Fitzwater was named Mountain East Player of the Week on Monday, and on Wednesday was named the Division II National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers’ Association. The Gilmer County High School alumna averaged 18 points and 19 rebounds last week.

Concord heads on the road Saturday for a doubleheader at UVa-Wise.
