Concord Announces Addition of Future Mountain Lions

Athens, WV (WOAY) – Concord football announced its recruiting class of 2017 Wednesday, with more than 15 student-athletes set to become future Mountain Lions.

Head coach Paul Price says quarterback, running back, and linebacker were among the key positions coaches were looking for this recruiting period, and the school received commitments from two quarterbacks in California.

Two area student-athletes are part of the Class of 2017: Nicholas County’s Tate Mayes and James Monroe’s Tripp Shiflet. Both were vital contributors in their respective teams’ run to the Class AA playoffs. Shiflet is listed as a linebacker, while Price anticipates playing Mayes at multiple positions.
