College Baseball Update – May 19

WOAY – West Virginia baseball closed its regular season Saturday with a 6-2 loss to Baylor in Morgantown.

The Bears took early momentum scoring four straight runs before the Mountaineers countered with two in the bottom of the fourth. However, Baylor maintained control to take the three-game series. Braden Zarbnisky and Brandon White each brought in a run for Randy Mazey’s team, while Darius Hill batted 2-5.

West Virginia (27-25, 9-15 Big 12) has been confirmed as the #7 seed for the Big 12 Tournament; they will face Oklahoma State Wednesday at 5 PM Eastern in Oklahoma City.

Marshall baseball, meanwhile, closed its regular season with an 18-9 loss to Southern Mississippi at Epling Stadium in Beckley. Kody Matthews had three RBI for the Thundering Herd, but the Golden Eagles posted eight runs in the second inning, then eight more in the ninth when the Herd had closed the gap to 10-8. Marshall finishes the 2018 season 19-30 overall, 7-21 in Conference USA.
