Coal City, WV (WOAY) – Independence wrestling is gearing up for this weekend’s state championship in Huntington, as the Patriots seek a fifth straight Class AA state title.
The Patriots have continued the success under first-year head coach Jeremy Hart that started under Cliff Warden, with several seniors providing key contributions for the squad.
14 grapplers qualified for the state tournament in their respective weight divisions – 12 of them as Region 3 champions following the regionals February 10.
The first round matches take place Thursday night in Huntington. The matchups for all area wrestlers can be found here.
