GREENBRIER CO., WV (WOAY) – The Greenbrier Co. Sheriff says while detectives investigated a murder last week, they have since found a second body buried in a shallow grave.

Sheriff Bruce Sloan tells WOAY that the second body was found in a wooded, mountainous area of George Washington National Forest in the Blue Bend area.  The victim is Chastity Faye Hamm, 24, of White Sulphur Springs.

The body was sent to Charleston for an autopsy and it has been ruled a homicide. The case and manner of death is consistent with Shaela Lynn McCoy Abren who was found last Thursday.

A suspect in these murders is in custody on an unrelated charge and his identity will be revealed at a later day.

The Sheriff’s Department says that the investigation is still very active and is far from being over and more information will be released when it can be.

At this point in the investigation the cause or manner of the death of the victims will not be disclosed.

Law enforcement officials say public safety is the main concern and they believe that has been accomplished in this particular instance with the incarceration of this suspect.

The next priority is to provide the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney with the thorough criminal investigation that will lead to a successful prosecution of these atrocious crimes and justice for the victims.
