Boys Class A, Region 3, Section 1 @ Oak Hill

Oak Hill High School was the site of three games in Boys Class A, Region 3, Section 1 action on Saturday.  Leading off was Richwood and Pocahontas County.  PC jumped out to a lead in the third quarter and appeared to be gaining control over the Lumberjacks.  However, Caleb Clenderin and Luca Gerke keyed a comeback as Richwood won 70-66.

In game number two, Webster County went up against Valley.  The underdog Greyhounds opened up a ten point lead in the fourth quarter, but Webster refused to go quietly.  They continued to force turnovers and get buckets in transition.  Still, The Greyhounds never relinquished their lead and extended it on late free throws, winning 76-69.  Spencer Dean was a force for Valley, putting home 14 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Closing the night out was Charleston Catholic and Midland Trail.  The Irish took control early, thanks in large part to the handles and shooting of point guard Robby Williams.  Williams nailed a three pointer from just inside the half court line to beat the first quarter buzzer and put Charleston Catholic ahead 20-10.  The Patriots battled their way back, but in the end, the Irish prevailed 61-54.
