FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A subject who escaped this afternoon is back in custody after a neighborhood search. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information regarding this incident.
At about 4:30 this afternoon, a prisoner escaped custody from transport personnel while being transitioned from holding cells to the transport vehicle. The subject was spotted shortly thereafter in the Nickleville area. Officers from multiple agencies conducted a search of the area, but were initially unsuccessful. About three hours later he was captured in the area by a West Virginia State Police Trooper and returned to Sheriff’s Department.
The subject, 25 year old Christopher Morrison, was in holding today for violation of probation conditions. The Sheriff’s Department would like to thank all the involved agencies for their assistance, tips provided by concerned callers, and the citizens of Fayetteville for their patience.
