Altercation Leaves One Inmate Dead In McDowell County

WELCH (WOAY) – An inmate is dead after an altercation that occurred at the McDowell County Holding Place.

Sgt. R.A. Daniel tells WOAY that the altercation occurred Friday, January 26, 2018 at around 6:30pm.

According to Daniel, Deptuies responded to a disturbance, once arriving on scene, inmate Marc Graham, 47, was found unresponsive due to an altercation with other inmates.

Graham was taking to Welch Community Hospital and was pronounced dead. His body has been sent to Charleston for an altopsy.

Graham was originally arrested on January 23, 2018, for nighttime burglary and bonded out. Graham was arrested again on January 25, 2018, for obstruction.
