BEAVER, WV (WOAY)- An exciting day took place for New River Community and Technical College as they signed an agreement with another college.

The college officially signed with Bluefield State College which means after a student completes two years at New River all credits will transfer to Bluefield State.

Both university presidents attended the event and shared the importance of the signing.

“This is a great partnership with Bluefield State College, many of our faculty and staff are already working together on a number of initiatives by sitting down and talking through curriculum issues. We are really excited about working with Bluefield to create success for our students,” said L. Marshall Washington, President of New River Community and Technical College.

Marsha Krotseng, President of Bluefield State College said, “This is all about the students and making sure that ultimately the state has educated workers and with this signing, we are able to transition students from a two year program to a four year program and help advance them into the workforce, this could help increase our workforce in the state as well as bring new students and new opportunities to the college,” said Krotseng.

Students will begin to transfer to Bluefield State College starting next semester.
