Beckley, WV (WOAY) – A 14-point run in the first quarter made a major difference as Gilmer County went on to win 51-43 against Midland Trail in the Big Atlantic Classic on Monday night.
Titans senior Trey Shuff played a major role in the early run, as many of those points came from forced turnovers.
Midland Trail made plays to trail by eight after the first quarter, and had several runs throughout the night to close the deficit, but the Titans hung on to win by eight.
The Patriots will play Greenbrier West on Wednesday, while the Titans face Sherman on Thursday.
