GA Man Charged for Drug Trafficking in Fayette County

SMITHERS– A Georgia man is in custody in Fayette County after a traffic stop in Smithers Tuesday night.
Justin Parks is facing several charges both here and back home in Georgia. Tuesday evening the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a teal colored Toyota being stolen in the Dixie area. Around midnight deputies spotted the car and stopped it near McDonalds in Smithers. The driver turned out to be a 16 year old female relative of the car’s owner and parks was a passenger. The deputy noticed items in the car consistent with drug trafficking and called for assistance.
After searching the car and the driver and parks deputies found 48 small bags of crack cocaine packaged for sale, 2 larger bags containing large chunks of cocaine, 2 small bags of marijuana, and a small amount of cash. Parks was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Upon further investigation, deputies found that Parks is wanted in Georgia for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and first degree home invasion. Parks has been remanded to Southern Regional Jail. The 16 year old female has not been charged because she is a juvenile.
